December 23, 2025 by Jerry Milani Leave a Comment

Caldwell University’s Melvin Evans and Brooke Corbett and Felician University’s Ane Valle were seleced Central Atlantic Athletic Conference (CACC) Basketball Weekly Award winners for the week ending Dec. 21.

Evans, a senior guard from the Bronx, led the Cougars to a 3-0 week, won the CACC Men’s Basketball Player of the Week. He shot 62 percent from the floor, averaging 17.0 points, 4.0 assists, and 2.3 steals. The league’s fifth-leading scorer posted a game-high 22 points, on 8-of-9 shooting, with six rebounds and six steals in Friday’s win over Wilmington. He followed up with 16 points and five assists as Caldwell topped No. 21 Assumption on Sunday.

Corbett was tabbed the league’s Women’s Basketball Defensive Player of the Week. She nearly recorded a triple-double with 11 points, nine rebounds, and 10 steals during a 67-47 win over Saint Michael’s on Sunday. The 10 steals are tied for the second-most by a Division-II player this season. The junior Staten Island native averaged 8.0 rebounds (3.5 defensive), 7.5 steals and 1.0 blocks as the Cougars allowed 47.0 points per game during a 2-0 week.

Valle also fell just shy of a triple-double with 23 points, 12 rebounds, nine assists, and five steals during the Golden Falcons’ 75-70 victory over Saint Michael’s on Friday, earning CACC Men’s Basketball Player of the Week. The junior from Vitoria-Gasteiz, Spain, shot 56 percent and averaged 21.5 points, 9.5 rebounds and 7.0 assists during a 2-0 week.

Locals named to the Honor Roll included (men’s) Jeremiah Anderson of Felician and (women’s) Jah’Nel Lewis of Caldwell.
