
USA Garden State Basketball has begun the selection process to fill the roster for its third annual international tour that will run from Aug. 16 through 23, starting in Athens, Greece.
The latest tour features stops at seven ports in three countries. It will again take place via Seabourn Cruise Lines, as was the case for the previous two European trips. The tour is co-sponsored by the non-profit Team Hill Foundation.The tour gets underway in Athens, with stops in Santorini (Greece), Monemvasia (Greece), Itea (Greece), Nydri (Greece) and Sarande (Albania) before concluding in Dubrovnik, Croatia.
Games will take place at a variety of stops during the tour.
Alumni from the previous two European tours include guard Nick Boyd, a second-team all-Big Ten selection at Wisconsin last season; 6-9 Gus Yalden, the America East Newcomer of the Year last season after leading Vermont in scoring and rebounding during a 22-12 campaign; Jacob Morales, a Division 3 All-American and the New Jersey Athletic Conference Player of the Year during his senior season at Montclair State; Matt Solomon, a Division 3 All-American and the NJAC Defensive Player of the Year at The College of New Jersey, and Rutgers-Camden’s Cameron Downs, a first-team all-NJAC selection who finished his career with 1,711 points.
Additionally, Boston University guard Ben Roy; Ramapo’s Peter Gorman, the NJAC Player of the Year as a senior; Fairfield guard Joe Ganton and Rutgers forward Bryce Dortch are among other notable alums from the first two tours.
